Criteria & Applying
Paterson Habitat for Humanity builds homes in partnership with qualifying partner families and the community, and then sells the homes at no profit with zero percent interest mortgages to partnering families. Paterson Habitat also prepares partner families to be successful homeowners.

In order to qualify for a Paterson Habitat home, you must be a first-time home buyer and meet the following and other criteria:
Need
Priority is given to families living in either substandard, overcrowded housing conditions or have a severe rent burden.
Income requirements
Families with incomes around $30,000 can qualify to be a homeowner of a new home with monthly payments around $800 per month – including principal, taxes and insurance.
Willing to partner
Accepted applicants must be willing to help build their home and the homes of their neighbors by providing 400 hours of "sweat equity" and complete several homeowner trainings. They must be comfortable being identified as a Habitat family and to be seen as an asset to the community by maintaining the home and property in order to further the program for others.
