What is Lowe's Women Build?

Throughout January and February the new Lowe’s home improvement store on Route 20 in Paterson was doing a brisk evening business giving free lessons in construction skills to women. Most of the students will be helping to build Paterson Habitat’s next Women Build house. The Lowe’s construction clinics taught women skills that included installing siding, flooring, windows, doors, trim, and how to frame walls and roofs.  The turnout was excellent each Monday and Thursday night with groups of 20 eager women ready to learn and build. 

Their new skills will come into great use this spring as we gear up to begin construction on what will be our third Women Build home.  Lowe’s is the underwriter of this project nationally and a great resource for us locally.  We encourage all women young and old to come out and hammer with us, regardless of experience.
