The action
officially started with a groundbreaking Tuesday morning
October 30th at the
60 N.1st Street building site. This
Women Build house is part
of Habitat's national "First Families Building
Homes Across America" program sponsored by Lowe's
home improvement stores. Besides financial support,
Lowe's will run classes in construction skills for our
women volunteers at the new Lowe's Paterson store on
Route 20.
New Jersey Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells
(our honorary co-chair) was present as well as
Janice Kovach, director of the NJ Division of Women
and State Assemblywoman Nellie Pou. They were
joined by Mayor Jose "Joey" Torres and Steve Rinker,
district manager for Lowe's.
