Paterson Habitat for Humanity closed out its Corporate Challenge 2012 building program in style June 28th, announcing the best results in the history of this annual effort that brings teams of corporate volunteers to Paterson's most distressed neighborhoods for three weeks of home building and fund raising.
At a news conference held in front of a Corporate Challenge home construction site at 126 Harrison Street, Paterson Habitat announced that Corporate Challenge 2012 had broken records in terms of homes built, dollars raised and the number of companies participating.
The 800 Corporate Challenge volunteers from 39 corporations built 5 Habitat homes and raised over $230,000 for Paterson Habitat's building fund. Participating companies send volunteer construction teams and make corporate contributions as well.
The Corporate Challenge house that served as a background for the news conference was sponsored by global insurance company QBE, a Corporate Challenge participant. Volunteer crews form QBE and Kuiken Brothers Company, a Fair Lawn headquartered building supplies company, worked the final shifts of Corporate Challenge 2012.
ADP Corp., a long-time supporter of Corporate Challenge, broke its own participation record by sending 340 volunteers during this year's campaign. A typical shift for all corporate volunteers involves a half day of construction work on a Habitat home, often working alongside volunteers from the family that will own the house.
Companies taking part in this year’s Corporate Challenge include: Accurate Box Co., ADP, Allied Building Products, Arrow Fastener, Atlantic Stewardship Bank, Bank of America, Belmar Springs Water, Braen Stone Industries, Capital One, Citi, Clifton Savings, Columbia Bank, Deutsche Bank, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, F3 Engineering, GAF, Gensler Architects, Hudson City, Hunter Douglas, Kuiken Brothers, Lakeland Bank, Langan Engineering and Services, Inc., Micato Safaris, NYCE/FIS, Oritani Bank, QBE, Railroad Construction Companies, Sax Macy Fromm, Spencer Savings Bank, State Farm, Tilcon NY/NNJ, Turner Construction Company, Twinings USA, Valley National Bank
